Have you ever wondered what would happen if Seeley Booth met Buffy Summers? If Michael Guerin met Izzie Stevens? How about Jess Mariano meeting Nathan Petrelli? What if Eric Brady came face-to-face with Dean Winchester? Would worlds collide, heads explode, or passions ignite?
Doppelgangland is a challenge-based fan fiction community designed to let some of primetime television's busiest actors revisit their old haunts with the same face but a brand new name.
If you're mystified at what we're getting at, here's a couple of examples from yours truly:
Sweet Hitchhiker, Won't You Ride?, SPN/FNL, R.
A Beautiful Taste, SPN/GG, R.
don't chase ghosts, don't get too close VM/Turks, R.
I want to kick things off in challenge format, after which the community will revert to laissez-faire, whenever-you-feel-like-it posting rules. So, here's what I propose: From April 5 through April 12, post your mash-ups in the comments of this post. The format is as follows: character from one fandom, character or scenario from their old show, some sort of prompt. ex. Izzie Stevens, Kyle Valenti, the long road home. On Friday, April 13, I will venture to gather everything up in some semblance of order and post the complete list. Pick what you like and go for it! If two people pick the same prompt, that's fine.
Post your completed doppelganger adventure by Sunday, May 20 at midnight EST. It can be any length, any rating, het, slash, or gen... basically whatever your heart desires!
To get the juices flowing, here's a short list of characters played by the same actor who could, conceivably, go walking around in each other's worlds. This is, by no means, comprehensive. Let's not forget Jack Shepherd and Charlie Salinger, hmmm?
( Do I know you from somewhere?Collapse )
*All fics must be spellchecked, grammar-checked and/or beta read, with a standard header including the title, rating, and any spoiler or squick warnings.
** Thank you to everyone who offered to make banners when I was tossing this idea around. If you're still up for it, I could always rotate out the existing banner, which was whipped up on a whim by the lovely angel_grace.
*** Lest I seem like a thankless whore, I got the "prompts" idea from medie's You Must've Been Kissin' a Fool drabble challenge.
**** Prompts restricted to television shows-only. I know I've already gotten some movie fandom crossovers, so consider this nip+ bud. Thanks!
